Bilingva Provides Vietnamese Language Interpreting at the Memorial Service for Long Tham Pham
Bilingva sends its deepest condolences to the family of Community Service Officer Long Tham Pham, killed in the line of duty.
The memorial service for fallen CSO Long Tham Pham was held at SAP Center. It was an honor and a privilege for the Bilingva team to provide Vietnamese interpreting and translation, as well as technical support, for the San José Police Department.
The service for Pham, 34, took place at SAP Center in San José, where hundreds of uniformed officers, city and state dignitaries, friends, and family members were in attendance. The department held processions to and from the venue.
Among the most moving tributes were those from Pham’s fellow community service officers, including one who shared that Pham’s mother ran a beloved neighborhood beauty salon.
On Aug. 3, Pham and another community service officer were conducting traffic control on Monterey Road in South San José when a driver struck both of them, killing Pham and injuring the other CSO, Veronica Baer. Pham died at the scene, and Baer was hospitalized in critical but stable condition.
Long Tham Pham was a dedicated Community Service Officer in San José, known for his commitment to fostering trust between residents and local services. With a warm, approachable presence, he engaged with the city’s diverse communities — addressing concerns, supporting neighborhood initiatives, and making sure every resident felt heard. Fluent in Vietnamese and English, he served as a vital bridge for many families, helping them navigate city resources while promoting safety and community well-being.
He regularly partnered with local schools, cultural organizations, and faith-based groups to host sessions on public safety, emergency preparedness, and civic engagement, helping residents become active contributors to their neighborhoods. His dedication to understanding the unique needs of San José’s diverse population made him a respected and trusted figure across the city.
